The Good: A meat-and-potatoes type of back who runs with good power and drive between the tackles. Has the strength to wear down opposing front sevens at the next level. Is surprisingly sudden for his size and does a nice job changing directions cleanly at full speed. Displays good vision at the line of scrimmage and in space. Has the patience to set up blockers on all levels of the field and is a gifted receiver out of the backfield. The Bad: Lacks a second gear once he breaks into the secondary. Plays at one speed and doesn't make too many defenders miss in space. Needs at least 20 carries to be effective. Isn't going to break many long runs.
Positives: Looks the part with a muscular physique and can squat a small house. Runs his legs on contact and can press off tacklers with a strong stiff-arm. Strong inside runner. Has the lower-body strength and load in his legs to consistently push the pile. Can pick up yardage in chunks. Relatively fresh and has a lot of tread left on his tires from being underutilized in college. Strong, competitive, face-up blocker. Reliable hands - can snag it easily. Solid character. Negatives: Not an elusive runner. Does not have breakaway speed. Does not plant and drive hard out of his cuts and his left foot injury has lingered and has been injured multiple times. Could run with better pad level. Needs to be fed to get lathered up and find a rhythm. Long-term durability remains a consideration. Summary: Piqued more interest after a solid week at the Senior Bowl and will warrant interest as a complementary bruising back. Has starter potential, but his history of foot injuries is a concern for a big back. Production has been hindered by playing in a rotation behind a suspect offensive line, but he showed improvement as a blocker and that he could pick up tough yardage. Grade: Mid-round prospect.
