Williams is an intelligent receiver who not only runs sharp routes but also does a great job changing speeds and setting up corners before his breaks. He possesses a good first step off the ball, but it's his balance and footwork that allow him to cleanly put his foot on the ground and suddenly change directions. He plays with a nice combination of savvy and athleticism and knows how to separate/uncover vs. both man and zone coverages. He showcases the ability to create additional yards after the catch. He possesses some shiftiness in the open field can sidestep a tackler in space but doesn't accelerate well out of his breaks. Williams is a natural receiver who showcases good coordination and adjusts well to the ball. He has the ability to pluck the ball away from his frame but too often lets throws get into his body over the middle of the field. But he displays good overall body control and concentration in traffic and consistently goes up and hangs on to the ball. He lacks ideal deep speed and has a good first step off the line but doesn't exhibit much of a second gear. Williams strides his way downfield and doesn't have the acceleration to run away from corners vertically. He always seems to be making catches in traffic. He's more quick and balanced than explosive. He doesn't display a physical element to his game and wasn't asked to beat press coverage often at USC. He looks like a guy who will need time to adjust to getting bumped off the line at the next level and cleanly getting into his routes. He's a savvy receiver with the balance and short-area quickness underneath to separate out of his breaks, but he isn't physical and doesn't have great acceleration when asked to separate downfield. He looks more like a guy who needs to play inside in order to be effective.
