Notes: Also played soccer as a Nebraska prep before walking on and redshirting in 2006. Connected on all eight field-goal attempts in '07 with a long of 39. Hit 18-of-21 FG attempts in '08 with a long of 57 (school record) and made 56-of-57 PATs with six kickoffs for a 41.7-yard average and zero touchbacks. Made 24-of-28 FG attempts in '09 with a long of 52 and made all 38 PATs. Also punted 77 times for a 41.4-yard average with a long of 76 and 30 dropped inside the 20-yard line (eight inside the three-yard line). Was perfect on all 54 PATs in '10 and converted 18-of-19 FG attempts with a long of 53. His only miss was a blocked 51-yard attempt against Missouri. Also handled punting duties (69-43.2-L69-26). Has had three kicks blocked in his career (two field goals, one punt). Two-time special-teams captain and MVP. Will be a 24-year-old rookie.
Positives: Has a very strong leg - can drive kicks with outstanding rise, trajectory, length and accuracy. Quick, compact stroke. Experienced, three-year starter who shows up in big games - converted 9-of-9 FG attempts in two Big 12 championship games and two bowl games his final two seasons. Voted a captain. Also handled punting duties.
Negatives: Might not be able to handle double duty at the next level. Made just 3-of-8 FG attempts beyond 50 yards in his career.
Summary: Battle-tested, confident, poised, soccer-style, right-footed kicker with NFL-caliber leg strength and accuracy who should be able to compete for a job right away.
NFL projection: Sixth- to seventh-round pick.
