It was a season that was better than most expected, but just short of what many had hoped. In the end, Missouri won ten games for the third time in four years. PowerMizzou.com hands out some awards for the Tigers' season superlatives as we put 2010 in the rearview mirror.[details]
Notes: Also competed in basketball and track as a Texas prep. Redshirted in 2006. A reserve safety/special-teams player in '07, tallied four tackles without a pass breakup or interception in 14 games. Played all 14 games in '08 and logged 25-5-1. Started all 26 games his final two seasons - totaled 47-2-2 with two tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble in '09 and 44-7-3 with four tackles for loss and four sacks in '10. Team captain. Has asthma.
Positives: Good size, athletic ability and short-area burst. Football-smart and versatile - can play corner or safety. Showed special-teams ability in the Texas vs. Nation all-star game when he sacrificed his body to cause a fumble on kick coverage.
Negatives: Average speed and strength. Instincts, physicality and tackling are lacking. Limited in man coverage. Does not exhibit confidence on the corner or trust his eyes enough. Plays too cautiously - allows too much cushion and gives up too many plays in front of him.
Summary: Matured as an upperclassman and made scouts take notice of his athletic ability. Could be drafted late and earn a spot on a roster because of sheer measurables and special-teams value.
