Notes: Has a child. Prepped in Georgia and redshirted in 2006. Played 13 games in '07, tallying 14 tackles, 1½ tackles for loss and zero sacks with a pass breakup and a forced fumble. Started 6-of-12 games (four in the middle) in '08, notching 60-3-1 with three pass breakups, two interceptions (both returned for scores against LSU). Broke his leg against Georgia Tech and missed the bowl game. Started 11-of-13 games in '09 - nine in the middle, two on the strong side - and posted 47-2-1 with two pass breakups and a forced fumble. Played outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme in '10, starting 7-of-13 games and logging 39-4-0 with a pass breakup and one interception. Graduated.
Positives: Has NFL size with good bulk. Plays with leverage and has solid take-on strength. Moves well laterally. Can drop into short zones (see LSU '09). Gives good effort in pursuit. Has played inside, outside, as a defensive end and on special teams. Good character. Hardworking, motivated player with leadership traits.
Negatives: Tight hips and marginal agility. Average eyes, speed and athletic ability. Not sudden. Does not change direction easily or accelerate smoothly. Can be outflanked and struggles in space. Does not play with pop or power in his hands. Not a striking, drive-through tackler. Does not make enough plays. Lacks finishing strength. Part-time player with limited upside.
Summary: Good-sized, versatile partial starter with average production and athletic ability. Lacks ideal instincts and tackling ability for the inside and best chance might be on the strong side in a 4-3. Will have to show he can contribute on special teams and back up multiple spots.
