Played all 13 games in '07, rushing 11 times for 41 yards (3.7-yard average) and zero touchdowns with three receptions for 22 yards (7.3). Added seven tackles on special teams. Sprained his left ankle against South Carolina, did not play against Arkansas and was bothered the duration of the season before undergoing season-ending surgery prior to the Liberty Bowl. Also has nine career kickoff returns for 79 yards (8.8). Team captain. Elected to not run 60-yard shuttle at the Combine.
Positives: Good strength at the point of attack. Effective cut blocker. Runs well and is athletic for the position. Factors as a receiver - has soft hands and can adjust to throws. Has special-teams experience. Outstanding football character and intelligence. Tough and competitive. A blue-collar worker who is motivated to succeed.
Negatives: Is not powerful or explosive. Does not offer much value as a runner - is tight in the hips and is not elusive. Pad level is inconsistent and can be late to adjust. Limited production. Durability could be an issue.
Summary: A jack-of-all-trades, master of none, Chapas was one of the Bulldogs' most consistent players and has starter-caliber ability as a West Coast fullback. Intelligence and versatility to contribute as a core special-teams player add to value.
