Personal: First team Class AAA all-state slection by the Associated Press. Selected to play in the US Army all-star game in San Antonio and the Big 33 game in Hershey. Selected to the Harrisburg Patriot-News Platinum 33 team. A two time All-Disrict 10 slection at tight end. He was also a standout basketball player at Franklin.
A powerfully built tight end who does a great job coiling up into his stance and firing off the snap count in the run game, Byham generates impressive power on contact and does a nice job keeping his base down through blocks and handling defensive ends one-on-one at the point of attack. He has impressive body control and balance on contact and displays the footwork and strength to stay on blocks through the play. Byham is one of the best-blocking tight ends in the country. He isn't an overly explosive athlete in the pass game but has enough speed to at least threaten the seam downfield. He gets out of his stance quickly and does a nice job cleanly releasing off the line. He displays impressive concentration and consistently extends his arms and plucks the ball away from his frame. He does a nice job getting out of his breaks cleanly, selling his routes and creating separation underneath. He isn't a big-time receiving threat but looks like a potential starting tight end at the next level who can win in both the run and pass game.
