Personal: Given name is David Demetrese Pender Jr. ... born Dec. 4, 1987 ... organizational leadership and supervision major ... enjoys fishing.
Pender is patient in his drop and does a nice job remaining balanced through his back-pedal. He showcases good overall body control when asked to press receivers off the line and uses his length to consistently get a good bump. He's difficult to create separation from once he gets his hands on you and does a nice job cleanly changing directions and staying in the back pocket of receivers downfield. He isn't nearly as fluid in off-coverage and struggles to flip his hips and turn and run with receivers if he doesn't get his hands on them first. Pender showcases good straight-line speed downfield, but isn't the type of quick-twitch athlete who can turn and make up for a false step in space.
