The Good: A tough, blue-collar lineman who likes to get his hands on defensive linemen and drive them off the ball. Possesses a powerful punch at the point of attack and the leg drive to consistently finish blocks. A hard worker with a motor that goes non-stop. Showcases decent foot quickness and has the length to keep defenders off of his body in tight quarters. The Bad: Isn’t real natural in space and looks uncomfortable when asked to slide in pass protection when he doesn’t have his hands on defenders. Can pull and strike a moving target. Keeps working to finish his blocks and gives great effort. Can eliminate defenders on the second level. Good worker. Excellent durability. Versatile and can play center or guard. Is smart, tough and competitive. Negatives: Has a tendency to play tall and is not a natural bender. A bit top-heavy and could do a better job of dropping his hips and playing with consistent leverage. Overly reliant on his upper-body strength and lets quick defenders get underneath his pads. Could do a better job anchoring in pass protection. Average recovery speed. Plays short-armed and can get better extension. Summary: Showed more agility at the Combine than he shows on tape and possesses the toughness, competitiveness and physical playing demeanor to contribute readily at either guard or center.
