Frank Coyle's analysis of the class:

POSITION
GRADE

This year's guard class is average, and features a few college tackles who project inside in the NFL.

Oniel Cousins, Mike McGlynn and Eric Young fit into that category.

Junior Branden Albert projects in the top 40 prospects but may be the only first- or second-round selection at this position. There will be no other top 75 selections from this group, and even the top prospects will need strong pro day workouts to be selected in the top 100 picks this April.

Over time, this class should produce 10 prospects with starting NFL potential.

2008 NFL Draft Offensive Guard Rankings
1. * Branden Albert, 6-7, 315, Virginia
Albert is a durable blue-chip prospect with very good fundamentals and the level of development to start as a rookie..
2. John Greco, 6-5, 318, Virginia
Greco projects to the early middle rounds, and he is a safe selection because of his versatility as both a run blocker and in the passing game.
3. Roy Schuening, 6-4, 310, Oregon State
Schuening has the tough, nasty demeanor that scouts seek in a lineman with the footwork required to carry a starting grade. He projects as a good middle-round pick.
4. Eric Young, 6-4, 305, Tennessee
Young looked like a potential top-60 prospect prior to his injury, but that, combined with some inconsistencies, may cause him to fall to the middle rounds.
5. Mike McGlynn, 6-4, 310, Pittsburgh
A highly intense, very competitive individual who plays hard until the whistle blows, McGlynn appears to be a solid middle-round pick with the ability to be a starting guard relatively early in his career.
6. Jeremy Zuttah, 6-3, 300, Rutgers
Zuttah combines the mobility, technique and quickness to be a starting NFL lineman. He is a fast-rising prospect who figures to be a middle-round pick.
7. * Chilo Rachal, 6-5, 315, USC
This big, powerful lineman needs more experience before he will be ready to warrant major playing time at the NFL level.
8. Oniel Cousins, 6-4, 300, Texas-El Paso
He is a diamond in the rough who shows excellent physical tools as well as steadily improving on-field performance. Cousins is a marginal top-150 prospect that probably falls to the second day.
9. Shawn Murphy, 6-4, 320, Utah State
This big, tough guard has the physical talent to surprise fairly early in his career with further development. He could develop into a starter at the NFL level.
10. Chad Rinehart, 6-5, 320, Northern Iowa
A tough, durable lineman with extensive experience, Rinehart has the talent to compete for a starting job in his pro career. He is a marginal top 200 prospect.
11. Donald Thomas, 6-3, 295, UConn
12. Andrew Crummey, 6-3, 300, Maryland
13. Robert Felton, 6-4, 325, Arkansas
14. Mackenzy Bernadeau, 6-4, 298, Bently
15. Drew Radovich, 6-4, 305, USC
16. Kerry Brown, 6-6, 305, Appalachian State
17. James Blair, 6-3, 323, Western Michigan
18. Chris McDuffie, 6-4, 320, Clemson
19. Devin Clark, 6-4, 310, New Mexico
20. Shannon Tevaga, 6-3, 315, UCLA
