{FSMETA} NFLDraft: Rivals.com - College Football

var CurrentYear = 2013;

Once again, the competition was heated for the illustrious CougZone Athlete of the Week as five athletes were vying for the weekly honor and this week [no, we really do think this] this week - the Pac-10 conference might finally go along with our pick too. Without further ado, may we present our candidates for CougZone Athlete of the Week….

This week began with the naming of seniors Carmen Anderson and Katie Hultin to the all-Pac-10 second team. It was the second all-conference appearance for Hultin while Anderson was making her debut. In volleyball, freshman libero Jalen Pendon continued to badger her opponents and turn in impressive performances - this time racking up 32 digs against the Los Angeles schools in two Cougar volleyball losses last week. In women's hoop, senior Keisha Moore filled the former Bianca McCall role and recorded a double-double in the Cougars' exhibition win over Lewis-Clark State. Finally, in football, senior running back Jerome Harrison had his 13th consecutive game over 100 yards - a 143-yard effort in the loss to Oregon - to become the new conference record-holder and also became the school's single-season record-holder with 1,693 yards - breaking the previous record of 1,637 yards, set by Rueben Mayes in 1985.

It was another tough call and we prefer to avoid repeating ourselves - but it was impossible to ignore the efforts of Harrison, who not only broke those two records but also became the nation's leading rusher - averaging 169.3 yards per game - in the process, setting the table for possibly becoming the Cougars' first-ever national rushing champion. No, there is no echo in here, Jerome Harrison is the CougZone Athlete of the Week for his double record-breaking performance against Oregon.
