The battle for the starting quarterback position will be the most intriguing battle in the long (and quite frankly boring) history of Middle Tennessee spring practice sessions.
No, you can't put a lot of weight on spring practice itself. After all, last year during spring practice Bradley Robinson was returning punts and kickoffs and we all know how that ended up. All-American status for Damon Nickson.
But what spring practice WILL do is set up an outstanding battle for the fall. Spring will allow the coaching staff to get a general feel for who's going to be a player and who's not - who's got a shot at starting and who doesn't.
Joe Craddock and Gene Delle Donne are the obvious choices, but Salin Simpson waits in the wings. Spring will tell us if he is a contender. Let's be honest here. Stockstill didn't recruit him last year just to be a backup throughout his career, plus this is the first true off season where Stockstill will have a decision to make.
